The Lake View Hotel was a four story building with 50 rooms and it suffered a similar feat as the Casino, burning on June 16, 1914. The lake started as several goldfish ponds that were joined to create the lake. Mr. Remsburg was one of many goldfish farmers in the Lewistown, Mountain Dale, Catoctin Furnace and Thurmont area. The lake can be seen as you drive past Lewistown on Rte 15. There was also a large Casino featuring bowling, dancing, swimming & boating on the lake and a movie theater, but there was no gambling. The Casino burned down in 1910 and the hotel in 1914.
