This photo and those following were taken at the Frederick Foreign Car Center at 432 West Patrick Street in Frederick on March 24, 1960. This must the sales staff posing with a new Morris 1000. A 947cc engine may have been a real fuel saver over here and a money saver in England where car registration fees were based on the engine size. But this was in the early 1960's when muscle cars were just getting cranked up. My 1963 Riviera had a 425 Nailhead, over seven times the size of the power plant in the1000 Morris. I remember going to a dealership in Frederick with my dad about 1962 where he bought a used Vauxhall station wagon. It could have been here. If any one knows any of the individuals pictured please leave a comment.
The images are from the Lee Black collection of negatives. Lee was a partner in the Thurmont Photo Center in the late 1940's - 1960.
