The first car of the final passenger trolley run on the H&F RR Thurmont to Frederick line arrives in Thurmont on the morning of February 20, 1954. Combine No 172 can be seen here with banners announcing the final run and bunting decorating the car. It looks as though this sad day was wet and dreary. A platform with sound system and microphones for a radio broadcast can be seen set up between the tracks for dignitaries to use while addressing the anticipated gathering.
