H&F RR Combine No 171 gets ready to cross Apples Church Road in Thurmont in this color photo taken in 1952. As with many of the photos of the H&F, this is a Rail Fan trip with members watching from the rails and extra people at the controls. The four sets of tracks that made up the WMRR line in Thurmont can be seen here. The four tracks ran West from here to Carroll Street. The track at the far left is the main line of the Western Maryland and the set at the right are electrified for the Hagerstown & Frederick. At the right can be seen the back of the Moore Business Forms facility, this building was built in 1951 and you can see a siding next to the building that ties in East of the end of the H&F track.
