H&F RR No 171 gets ready to head back to Frederick after exchanging freight and passengers with a West bound WMRR train in this scene from February 7, 1953. It would be one short year after this that the passenger service on the H&F RR would see it's last run between Frederick and Thurmont on Feb 20, 1954. The steam engines on the Western Maryland would soon be replaced with quieter and cleaner diesel units.
