In this close up you can see a car waiting for No 172 to pass and a fuel truck and delivery man from the Farmers Cooperative Fuel Company. Farmers Cooperative had a fuel tanks on Maple Avenue near the Thurmont Cooperative Mill for many years. The small building visible between No 172 and the fuel truck is John Creagers scale house for weighing his coal trucks. The scale house and scales remained until the late 1960's and the siding over the coal bunkers on Boundry Avenue was removed at about the same time. The end walls of the coal bunker are still in place.
