The face of the Frederick Fair postcard features a very popular design with an image of local U. S. Navy hero Admiral Winfield Scott Schley, his Flag Ship Brooklyn, and his family home Richfield. Winfield Scott Schley was a rear admiral in the United States Navy and the hero of the Battle of Santiago de Cuba during the Spanish–American War. Heading toward Frederick, Richfield is located on the left opposite Beckley's Motel. Admiral Schley was born at Richfield on October 9, 1839, he died in New York City on October 2, 1911, and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The postcard was printed by Marken & Bielfeld of Frederick.
