This unusual real picture-postcard view of Chimney Rock was sent from Thurmont to Frederick Junction on June 16, 1917. This is the first of this style of postcard I have seen featuring a Thurmont area landmark. The postcard is a generic printing with a sentiment and space for a postage stamp size image on the face. The basic card was mass-produced and then the photo stamp would be added relative to the location where the card was sold. In this case, the stamp features a photo of Chimney Rock. You will note that the word Chimney is misspelled. The small image appears to be a Cassell view and the postcard was printed by NSS AN ESS Photo Co. Inc. (?) The publisher stamp is not very clear is difficult to read.
Does anyone have another example of this type of Thurmont postcard?
