The finished water tower was an easily recognizable feature of Thurmont's skyline and can be seen in many other photos including those views of the Western Maryland Train Station.
This was the view from my bedroom room window from 1961 until the new front addition was built. The Sunrise Cafeteria building was also taken down for an addition to the building.
