This is a truly amazing photo album from the Mackley family containing photos of the Thurmont area. These pictures probably date from 1900-1910 with several of C. R. R. Beck's images sprinkled in with the personal photos. This kind of photo album was very popular at the turn of the 20th Century. The photos are glued on pages and bound in a cover. The blank album could well have been purchased from Charlie Becks' Postcard Station shop.

The album measures about 7" by 5 1/2" and is covered in this heavy dark gray paper. The pages are a light gray granite print and are sewn together in two sections. The word Photographs is embossed on the paper. Unfortunately, there is no name in the album, but it looks like it belonged to a young woman from the Mackley family. the album is in remarkably good condition for being at least 110 years old.

My thanks to James "Buzz" Mackley for allowing me to scan and display this wonderful family heirloom!
