In this aerial view by Ron Hoke the Farmers Cooperative Association building and fuel tanks can be seen at the lower right. Frederick Coop sold fuel and fuel oil and used the storage tanks seen at the rear and side of the garage. The tanks were removed in the early 1970's but the building still exists and other than a different paint scheme it looks the same as it did in this photo. Maple Avenue runs bottom to top and Boundary Avenue runs along side the train tracks. Above the coop can be seen a portion of the Hoke Furniture plant. The pond is long gone and C. Richard Dewees now uses the property for his fuel oil storage tanks.

The Farmers Cooperative Association had a location on Maple Avenue and Boundary Avenue in Thurmont next to the Thurmont Cooperative. This advertisement must have been from the late 1950's, the phone number for Thurmont location has four digits while the Middletown number has only one. The garage is still standing and there were fuel oil tanks on the right hand side of the building, they were removed in the ealry 1970's. I do not remember what they did in the garage but they may have sold lubricatiung oils and other similar items. The matchbook cover advertises three locations for the company, see the next image for the inside of the match book cover.

This is the inside of the Farmers Cooperative Association matchbook cover. The Farmers Cooperative Association was located at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Boundary Avenue in Thurmont next to the Thurmont Cooperative. The insde has a pretty lengthy advertisement for their products and services.

Many of us remember Wayne Finneyfrock and his friends in this photograph! This pictures shows Wayne Finneyfrock and some of his friends at the pool hall Wayne ran sometime around 1960 or 1961. Wayne is standing at the far right wearing the white t-shirt. Wayne was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a fire call on June 21, 1973. From the left are Billy Houck, Darrell Lewis, Gene Eyler, Wayne Finneyfrock and in front is Frank Shriner. I think this was the old Gall's Pool Hall building. Who knows where the pool hall was located? Thanks to everyone that helped identify Gene Eyler and Frank Shriner. Thanks to Linda Angell Lewis for providing this photo.
