A matchbook cover advertisement for Ray Birley's Men's Wear "House of Name Brands" clothing store at 12 West Main Street in Thurmont. This is fairly typical of matchbook art from the 1950s and 1960s.

Since this photo was taken a small house has been built next to the house on Lombard Street. The gas pump at Beall's Express can be seen to the left of the cab and the Thurmont Mill can be seen behind the cab.

This was the Bollinger Dairy and Restaurant. Elmer Bollinger owned a dairy on the property and operated this restaurant and ice cream bar located on what is now Rte 550 on the left just West of today's Rte 15 intersection. His son Junie later opened Bollinger's Restaurant in the Plaza Shopping Center.

A closer view of the four men standing along side the Blue Mountain Garage on Water Street. This photo was probably taken in the 1920's or 1930's

Four gentlemen standing in the driveway between the Blue Mountain Garage and the House of Hits (Gem or State) Theater. Originally two brothers owned the Blue Mountain Garage and sold it to Edwin Creeger. There is no indication as to who these gentlmen are, does anyone recognize any of them? The Blue Mountain Garage was located on Water Street and originally sold bicycles and provided gasoline and mechanical reairs for automobiles.  This building has always served automobile owners and continues to do so today as an auto parts store.  In this view you can see the gas pumps out front and one of the side windows. In later years Edwin Creeger added large display windows to the front and side of the building. This photo shows the Thurmont Base Ball team playing at the field behind the Thurmont High School. You can see the top of the Thurmont High School building above the grandstand. Note the large grandstand, this held a sizeable crowd. The grandstand was removed prior to the 1949 addition of the gymnasium/cafeteria wing to the school.
