Thanks to Linda Lewis for providing this great little memory for us to enjoy! How many remember getting our hunting license at Donald Lewis's Sorting Goods store? This hunting license holder belonged to Linda's husband Darrell and he probably pinned to the back of his canvas hunting jacket just like the rest of us. Over the years Donald must have issued thousands of hunting licenses and probably handed out hundreds of the holders! This is a great little piece featuring an advertisement for his sporting goods store.

Hunting licenses were required to be displayed on your person. These license holders could be pinned to your jacket and every year you would just insert the new license. This holder is from Donald Lewis's store on the Square in Thurmont.

Here's another neat memory from Linda Lewis. This is Darrell's Cub Scout membership card from November 1952. It amazes me that Linda still has this card! It is signed by Scout Master Carroll Brown and was good for 1952-1953.

Here is Thurmont resident and H&F employee Nathan Lewis. I believe Nathan signed off on the train order shown. Nathan worked on the trolley system and also the bus line. My thanks to Linda Lewis for making this image and others available for display.

This is another one of the Hagerstown & Frederick Railway Commemorative Last Trolley tickets issued for the final round trip to Thurmont on Feb. 20, 1954. This ticket shows a dent corner and scuffing from being handled and there is a cut out where the motorman punched it on the day of the ride.  Thanks to Linda Angell Lewis for sharing this item with us.
