An odd postcard sent from Thurmont to Lewistown on July 15, 1912. The recipient was Miss Martha Stottlemyer and it was sent by her sister Laura. This is what I call a generic postcard, the name of Creagerstown was added to the banner as were probably the names of hundreds of other towns. A penny postcard was an affordable method of communications even between small communities just a few miles apart. Many postcards from the early 1900's have similar comments asking about when they will visit or if they got home safely. The message notes the they have started selling milk in Creagerstown and asks if Martha got home ok and if Allen cried any more. The wide spread use of the telephone spelled the end to postcard notes like these.

The postcard shows a cancellation stamp from Thurmont dated Jul 15, 1912 and the very common one cent Washington stamp.

The note says - Hello sister we commenced selling milk in Creagerstown. How did you get home did Allen cry any more . Write me and let me know when you are coming home. What do you know about this. ha ha ha From Laura

There are some additional words I can not make out.
