As a very young kid my parents took us to Braddock Heights Park with friends in the early to mid 1960's. I do not remember much other than the bowling alley, skating rink, and I think maybe the Ferris Wheel. By the time we went much of the original attractions at the park had been closed. The Hagerstown and Frederick Railway played a big part in the success of Braddock Heights Park. Braddock was one of the "destinations" on the H&F, attracting families for day and evening outings. The trolley offered an inexpensive transportation at a time when many family's did not own a car. This brochure is probably from the late 1950's and mentions many of the attractions. Interestingly by this time the trolley had stopped running to Braddock and the brochure features an add for the Blue Ridge Bus line. The Blue Ridge bus line was run by Potomac Edison, the same company that ran the trolley system. Bus service had many advantages over the trolley including the ability to use existing roadways and routes could be changed added to or removed as needed.

The back of the brochure features an ad for the Blue Ridge Bus line service and a map showing the locations of the park. The ad targets riders from their routes in West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. P&E started bus service very early on and eventually closed the trolley line in favor of their bus system. I remember when buses would stop in Thurmont at Lewis's Confectionery on the Square, you could purchase bus tickets in Lewis's.
