Sometime in 1952 these photos were taken of Western Maryland Rail Road Engine No 204 headed East through Thurmont. No 204 was a 4-6-2 K-2 Baldwin Locomotive built in 1912. She weighed in at 285,900 lbs and had 69" drivers. These were magnificent engines and it must have been a real thrill to see them coming through Thurmont. I remember those trailers with the curved noses, I think they were Freuhoff units. The truck is a Federal, Bob Willhide's father and Charlie Beall drove to Baltimore to get the truck when Charlie bought it. Dave Lawyer's Gateway Automotive now occupies Beall's old freight building.
