This detail shows the sweeping turn on the Wesatrn Maryland Rail Way as it crosses North Church Street and heads up the mountain. On the inside of the curve there are two building at the corner of North Church and Woodside Avenue. This was the O'Toole Brothers Garage. Over the years the O'Tooles sold many makes of automobile, truck and tractor from these buidings. Eventually it became Martin Ford in the 1950's and then Leisner Ford in the 1960's. The buildings went through several uses before being torn down in the early 2000's. Directly across North Church Street there is a low lying building with white columns acoss the front. This building would be moved up the street next to the old railroad hotel to become Mountain Jerry's. The Liberty Gas Station now sits where Mtn. Jerry's place was. Directly up from the O'Toole Garage you can see the large Canning Factory along the rail road tracks. This business began as John Root & Sons PenMar Cannery. At this time it was probably know as the Western Maryland Canning Co. and it would later be part of the Watkins Canning Company. To the left of the canning factory can be seen the early form of the Blue Ridge Cemetery next to the Weller Cemetery. Blue Ridge Cemetery was esablished in 1924.
