A carpenter's pencil from Ralph Miller. Ralph was a builder, owned mountain land for lumber, ran a sawmill, and sold construction supplies. His sawmill was set up on the property behind the bowling alley on Frederick Road. That operation featured a large storage building, an office shed, a large sawmill powered by an electric motor, and a silo to collect the sawdust and drop it into trucks. I remember going to the sawmill with my father in the early 1970s to pick up real 2" x 4" x 8' framing lumber. He also ran a sawmill on Maple Drive near the Boundary Avenue intersection.
