Detail of a Western Maryland Train departing Thurmont headed West up the mountain. The groups of people on both sides would indicate this is a Rail Fan outing. On the right is Woodside Avenue and to the left is Boundary Avenue. Note the siding with the openings between the rails in the foreground, this was the coal siding used by  the Creeger Coal Company. John Creeger used this siding along with a truck scale and scale house on the other side of Boundary Ave. for his coal business. Many older residents remember Sank Spalding as the man who delivered coal for John Creeger.
