A postcard view of the Hoke Corner. Hoke operated a general merchandise store at the South East corner of Patterson and West Main Street in Emmitsburg. The delivery wagon at the right says J. E. Hoke, Dealer in Country Produce, and it looks like No. 1 indicates this may be one of several wagons. The gentleman standing behind the wagon appears to be holding a hamper full of items ready to be delivered to a local household. All the windows have some advertising, the only ones legible are the front corner ad for Queens Ware and to the right an ad for Glass Ware. Queen's Ware was a very popular form of china produced by the Wedgewood Company.
The building remains and is now utilized as an apartment building. Although the appearance of the first floor has changed, the second-floor facade remains similar to its appearance on the postcard as does the cupola.
